According to Jan Lauwers, the co-founder of the Belgian group Needcompany and - alongside Grace Ellen Barkey and Maarten Seghers - the curator of the next edition of Malta, "only that which we wish to share has value". On 15-24 June we will meet in Poznań for the 28th time to share the ten days of the festival.

Theatre gives faith that it is possible to be together despite divisions and differences, it is a vehicle of conversation, delight and reflection.

This year's Idiom "Leap of faith" will feature the newest play by Needcompany entitled "War and Turpentine", the legendary "FOREVER" by Lemm&Barkey, the premiere of a musical performance by Maarten Seghers "Concert by a Band Facing the Wrong Way", "The Moon" by MaisonDahlBonnema, "1095" by the formation Kuiperskaai and "Another One" by Lobke Leirens and Maxim Storms, who represent the new generation of Belgian theatre collectives.

This edition's special event will be the premiere of "Messiahs" directed by Aneta Groszyńska. It is a spectacle inspired by novel Messiások (Messiahs) by the Hungarian writer Györgi Spiró. An all in one tragicomic fantasy, montage of sources and a historical treaty about the Polish soul. The novel has been awarded the Angelus Central European Literature Award.

Moreover, as in the previous years, Malta will feature Malta Stage. The open space of Liberty Square will host artists such as Mariusz Bonaszewski, Paweł Passini, Dorota Landowska or Katarzyna Czarnecka. We will also have an opportunity to watch a recording of an unusual event – "Wesele" ["The Wedding"] interpreted by over 70 stars - graduates of Cracow's PWST National Academy of Theatre Arts. The cycle Poznań on Malta will showcase the local theatre stage. While Scena Robocza – Centrum Rezydencji Teatralnej in collaboration with Strefa WolnoSłowa will prepare the premiere of "Ludzie" ["Humans"], and take the spectators for a performative walk around the old Olimpia Cinema as a part of their project "Żegnaj Olimpio (Ostatnia Inwentaryzacja)" ["GOOD BYE, OLIMPIA (Last Inventory)"], which will be hosted by Monica Duncan, Romuald Krężel and Emmilou Rößling. Polish Dance Theatre invites to the premiere of "No more tears" by Ivo Vedral and "Wesele. Poprawiny" ["The Wedding. Afters"] by Marcin Liber, which is an intergenerational dialogue with Stanisław Wyspiański. Republika Sztuki Tłusta Langusta will present the guest performances of "Smog, czyli o trudnościach z oddechem" ["Smog or breathing difficulties"] by Barbara Prądzyńska, "ONE albo X scen z życia" ["THEY or X scenes from life"] by Justyna Machaj, a as well as RFM Mazut. As per tradition, Malta Stage will also feature plays by Teatr Polski, Teatr Nowy and Teatr Ósmego Dnia. The dance program will be curated for the 13th time by Joanna Leśnierowska as a part of Old Brewery New Dance on Malta.

The young audience is invited a little earlier, from 3 to 7 of July, to Aula Artis for the performances prepared by Młoda Malta / Young Malta Festival. The program will feature plays of theatre groups from Scotland, Spain, Ukraine and Poland. The ticket sales will start on 15 May.
