Viviane De Muynck, a Belgian actress who will be seen this year during Malta Festival Poznań, received the Ulitmas 2017, the Flemish Culture Awards.

The prizes were handed over by the Sven Gatz, the Minister of Culture, Youth, Media and Brussels, who will also be present at this year's festival. The Ultimas provide a look back at the numerous efforts and achievements in the cultural sector during the past year. This year, the prize for General Cultural Achievement goes to Viviane De Muynck.

Viviane De Muynck will be seen in Poznań during the Polish premiere of play "War and Turpentine" by Jan Lauwers & Needcompany, where she plays the main role.

From the jury report:
Viviane De Muynck is la grande dame of the stage in the Low Countries, but she is also famous far beyond its borders. De Muynck has the special gift of being able to pass on the art of acting. With her expertise and eloquent personality, she inspires young generations of actors and actresses. Internationally, she is a popular guest tutor at masterclasses and workshops. Her exceptional linguistic ability is key to this. Viviane De Muynck has the soul of an artist. […] Viviane De Muynck herself also dares to be unashamedly speechless. She recognises no taboo and as an actress displays herself in many forms: in beauty and ugliness, in vulnerability and in timelessness. She has perfected her talent during many years on the stage and in front of the camera, with no loss of energy or curiosity. Which is precisely the fuel that enables the artist to create a new masterpiece from scratch every time.
