Stefan Hertmans – one of the most renowned writers of the Dutch language, the author of the widely discussed novel War and Turpentine – will come to Poland. Tomorrow at the Big Book festival in Warsaw he will promote his latest book The Convert, issued by the Marginesy Publishing House.

A day after that he wil be a guest at Malta Festival Poznań. The meeting with the writer will take place on 22.06 on Liberty Square as a part of the Forum series and will be moderated by Michał Nogaś. The writer's visit will be accompanied by a premiere staged reading of his drama Antigone in Molenbeek directed by Anna Smolar, with music composed by Joanna Halszka Sokołowska, and Małgorzata Gorol as Antigone. In this particularly poetic, theatrical monologue inspired by Sophocles' tragedy, Stefan Hertmans describes the story of a young Muslim woman, who is trying to claim the body of her terrorist-brother from the authorities. It will be the first presentation of this drama in Poland.
