Malta Festival Poznań treats music as a sphere of experiencing art on par with theatre and dance. This year's program includes over 20 musical events: concerts, sound installations and dance events.

As a part of the Leap of faith idiom we will have an opportunity to take part in two extraordinary premieres. There will be a concert of the festiwal curators, Jan Lauwers, Grace Ellen Barkey and Maarten Seghers, who will play alongside over a dozen collaborators of the Needcompany collective. On 20.06 at 21:30 on Liberty Square they will present the premiere their material entitled O, Tomorrow's Parties (or Fun Is Politics), which refers to the cult song by The Velvet Underground. But the Festival's world premiere will be The Concert by Band Facing the Wrong Way by Maarten Seghers, which will take place on 18 and 19.06.

For the ten Malta days the stage on Liberty Square will be the venue for meetings with musicians from the Polish independent scene. On 15.06 we will have a performance of Czerwone Świnie, i.e. the band of Monika Strzępka and Paweł Demirski, who express their dissent against social reality. On 22.06. Jazz Band Młynarski-Masecki will transport us to the interwar period, on 16.06. Romantic Fellas will take us to the end of 1980s and the beginning of 1990s, while on 21.06 Paulina Przybysz will present her new material from her latest album Chodź Tu (Come Here). The penultimate day of the festival will be filled with the sounds of the piano, the hum of conversations and common song during Cafe Chantant.

We will spend weekend evenings dancing with earphones on our heads during Silent Discos, which became a fixed feature on Malta. On the night of 16 and 17 June will be dancing to the tunes served by the NOS trio, i.e. Michał Nogaś, Agnieszka Obszańska and Agnieszka Szydłowska.

The duo BARDO comprises of Barbara Kinga Majewska and Bartłomiej Wąsik. On 19.06 they will present their compositions for vocals, piano and electronics in which they combine popular songs and contemporary music.

The Malta Generator program is also full of music. On the day before the start of the festival between the blocks of flats on the Kopernika housing estate there will be a concert of Żółte Kalendarze, who will take the inhabitants on a musical journey to the times of the construction of the estate. Liberty Square will host a large scale sound installation made by the composers of Poznan Music Academy and designers from the School of Form. In the Liquid identity cycle we will transport music and movement onto water. Together with the Future V group from Berlin – which is a dance platform for nonheteronormative persons with refugee experiences – we will go to the Strzeszyńskie Lake to take part at dusk in a dance performance entitled Nobody Is Alone. At the Cityzen pool on the other hand, we will witness the premiere of The Real Show by the performer duo Twoja Lola and the experimental music trio Braki. The Warsaw collective Flauta will host a techno and electronica dance event at Schron, the proceeds from which will go to the people of war-ravaged Yemen. During the finale of the fifth edition of Poznań Yard Sale we will have a performance of the Polish-Yemeni rappers Poeci Strefy Wojny.

Ta nasza młodość, Karuzela z Madonnami or Oczy tej małej are only some of the compositions that will be performed during the open air concert Konieczny…? Koniecznie! The legendary pieces of Zygmunt Konieczny arranged by Cezary Duchnowski, Agata Zubel, Bartłomiej Wąsik and Andrzej Bauer as well as Orkiestra Collegium F under the baton of Marcin Sompoliński will sound out in Henryk Wieniawski Park on 23.06. Free admission.
